Emma's Baptism

by a grandfather

EMMA’S BAPTISM

My little Emma Grace with such a pretty face
With so much of Jesus loving grace
Came home from vacation bible school the other day
She had so much joy within as she spoke of such praise
Told her daddy she had got the Holy Ghost
My oh my what a child

My heart was so full of joy as I so broadly smiled
As her dad my son told me of this I chuckled a little bit
So young she seems to be to me to say such a thing

Then I thought hey wait a minute this is real today
For I remember way back when the Holy Ghost I did not lack
For it came upon me at about the same age
Nine years old I was then washed clean of all sins

For you see I am Emma Grace with such a pretty face’s Pawpaw
Getting old I am I am for I still think she is so young
How could this precious child get the Holy Ghost today
What can I say the Holy Ghost chooses a clean vessel
Whether be old young ancient as me I am so pleased

Now it is another day of pure amazement
For my little Emma chose to be baptized this Sunday
For my little bitty wife and I are on our way
Cannot miss this day no way

A little sad though for Emma is no longer my little Emma
Still young as can be you see eight years old almost the age of me
When the Holy Ghost swept down upon me with such loving force I was nine
Oh well she will always be my little Emma Grace with such a beautiful face
And this old Pawpaw knows for sure she will always have Jesus’ grace within her face

Now my precious granddaughter I will tell you this from deep within my heart
This day will most certainly be such a special day within your heart to stay a part
For many years from now as this old Pawpaw is telling you
Will come the day you will say to your grandchild in such a loving way
The Holy Ghost is truly a part within my grandchild’s heart so true
For I can see Jesus’ loving grace all over her precious little face
No matter how young you are Jesus will come in
This day my little Emma Grace with such a pretty face you win
This special Baptismal day to be for you so true
Love you always,
Pawpaw Andrew G. Narvaez
